Hotel Cafe Tour.

Laura Jansen, Priscilla Ahn, Meiko, Ingrid Michaelson and Erin McCarley helped me fall in love with live music all over again. Tucked upstairs in the darkened, chic space of The Parish away, performers of the Hotel Cafe Tour provided an escape from the drunken antics of 6th Street. I stood cramped against the speaker on the side of the stage, camera in hand, smile on my face, completely content. I was illuminated by the same simple pale light that shone on the performers, close enough to see the subtleties of their expressions as they sang. And sang beautifully. Each singer, in her own distinct style, was able to belt out notes to fill the room with energy and spunk. They were passionate, charismatic and natural. Their upbeat tunes had the masses nodding, swaying, and tapping their feet. Their slower, more intimate tunes floated through the air, soothing and entrancing. Although I stood in a smoky, congested room heavy with the smell of stale beer, the talent of these women allowed me to breathe fresh, clean air into my lungs.
